Big Picture Thinking

The folks who decided middle-Eastern boundaries after WWI, conceptualized things like the Panama or Suez Canals, or assembled our country's WWII Manhattan Project were big picture thinkers.
keystone_pipeline This map shows a big picture project -- the yellow dotted line represents 1,702 miles of 36-inch diameter pipe, as a second phase of a larger project.

The first phase -- the Keystone Pipeline -- is being built to our east through Seward County this year.

A meeting to explain this new project and invite local comment about environmental impacts will be held 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday, February 23rd at the York Community Center.
A .pdf map of the proposed route through Nebraska shows it running diagonally through York County from the northwest corner to a point southeast of McCool Junction.

A York News-Times article about this project appeared in July 2008, with more details recently -- on Jan. 27, 2009 and Jan. 28, 2009

P.S. Another York News-Times article was published Feb. 11, 2009.
