Comedians = Truth Tellers ?

A lippy liberal to a radical-right winger: "If you were truly a patriot, you'd clean house with a U.S. made weapon, not an AK-47."

Q: "What's black & white and all over?" --A: the newspaper business.

If you catch the right episode of C-Span's "Q&A with Brian Lamb," you'll hear variants of those and other zingers from a media personality.

The "Aardvark" and "Platypus" works I've mentioned in the last two posts use lots of hoary jokes to illustrate their points. Ulysses S. Grant threw in a humorous anecdote now and again in his memoirs -- In the last lines of pg. 71, the joke was on himself.) Abraham Lincoln's comedic talent is celebrated -- how does it go? Something like, "I can't be a two-faced politician because if I had two would I wear this one?"

Comedy is so subjective .. but I think there's unintended humor in this patent drawing showing a cigar smoking salesman bailing out of his burning room.
