Bob, you and Todd met a time traveler! His name didn't happen be H.G. Wells, did it?
| Nebraska in 1854 and 1855 was everything north of the Kansas-Nebraska line, east of the Rocky Mountain continental divide, west of the Missouri River, and south of the Canadian border. Yellowstone? yup--in Nebraska! Black Hills? you betcha -- in Nebraska! Great Falls of the Missouri River? uh-huh -- them too!! | |
Of course the place was pretty empty back then, at least by our standards. Lots of buffalo, and wolves, and grass of various heights, wild rivers and nomadic people.
Or maybe the time traveler was from even further back, when continental glaciers extended through eastern Nebraska into Kansas.
I think his insistence on GLACIER NATIONAL PARK was just a ploy to disguise his real identity.
P.S. Feb. 17, 2009 : a letter to the York News-Times suggests it was the "ice climbing wall" in the Niobrara River Valley northeast of Valentine.
